Ace Law serves clients in The Woodlands and throughout the Houston area. The Woodlands sits in Montgomery County, north of Harris, which means matters arising there generally belong to a different county from the city most of its residents drive to for work.

It is easy to think of The Woodlands as part of Houston. Administratively it is not: it is in Montgomery County, and that county line is the practical fact that matters most. A dispute, an estate or a family matter arising in The Woodlands generally belongs to Montgomery County rather than Harris. People are often surprised by this, particularly when the other party lives inside Harris County and the question of where things belong becomes a real one.
The Woodlands was built as a master-planned community and has drawn corporate offices and professional households along with them. The practical result is a different mix of legal work than a typical suburb produces: partnership and contract disputes, questions about how a business is structured before it grows, and estate planning for people with more than one asset to think about — a house, a retirement account, a share in a company, sometimes property elsewhere.
The other half of that work is what happens when nothing was written down. Probate is slower and more contentious when an estate is substantial and the instructions are unclear, and family relationships do not improve while it drags on. Most of the estate matters we are called about from this area are one of two things: someone who has realised they should put something in writing, or a family working through what a parent left behind without a plan.
Interstate 45 carries most of the traffic between The Woodlands and Houston, and it is a long, fast corridor. When injury matters reach us from this area they tend to come from that drive rather than from local streets — which usually means higher speeds, more serious injuries, and insurers who take the claim seriously from the first day.
